Our team here at Central Animal Hospital understands the impossible position you and your family now find yourselves in. Please know our compassionate team is here to support you through every step, and we are committed to providing comfort and dignity during this challenging time.To learn more about our end-of-life services, please do not hesitate to call us at 250-376-7208 to speak with one of our client care receptionists.

We offer At-Home Euthanasia Service with Dr. Anne Flemming. This service allows pets to pass peacefully in the comfort and familiarity of their own home, surrounded by loved ones. We hope that offering this option will bring comfort and honor to your pet’s final moments.

Appointments for at-home euthanasia can be scheduled during our regular hours, with evening and weekend appointments available by request. To book, please call us at  250-376-7208. Our team will be here to help with arrangements and answer any questions you may have.

For those who feel more comfortable bringing their pet to our clinic, we also provide end-of-life care in a private, quiet area dedicated to giving your pet a peaceful farewell. Our team works closely with Okanagan Pet Cremation services to offer commemorative options, including urns and paw impression ceramics from Peartree Impressions.

How do I know if my pet should be euthanized?

Whenever you are ready, we recommend you come to the hospital for a one-on-one consultation with your veterinarian so you can discuss in detail if euthanasia is the right option for your pet. Things to consider when making this difficult decision are: if your pet is in chronic pain which is no longer manageable with medications, if they can no longer perform bodily functions independently, or if they can no longer eat without medical intervention.

Is pet euthanasia painful?

Not at all. Once they receive the injection of the euthanasia drug, your pet will slowly fall into a peaceful sleep. Then as the drugs set in, their organs will begin to fail systematically.

Our team members are pet parents too, and many of us have experienced the loss of a beloved pet. Whether you choose in-clinic or at-home euthanasia, please know that you are not alone—our entire team is here to support you and your pet with the utmost respect and compassion.
