TRU Student Practicum

Twice every year we are pleased to have a second year student from the Animal Health Technology program at Thompson Rivers University spend 3 weeks with us completing their practicum. The program at TRU is a two year program and the students we have with us are nearing graduation. Spending 3 weeks at a veterinary clinic gives the students lots of opportunity to practise the skills they have learned. Under our direct supervision the students do almost everything that our trained technicians do on a daily basis.

Samantha has been with us for 2 weeks now with just one more week to go before returning to classes and then before graduation another practicum at a different clinic. Every year we are very impressed with the high standards set and the quality of skills and training the students receive at TRU. Samantha is no exception to this and we all have really enjoyed having her with us. All the best Samantha in your new career, you are going to be an awesome tech!

National Cupcake Day

Monday was the SPCA National Cupcake Day.  We have supported this event for the last 3 years.  Our staff and some very dedicated clients have made hundreds of cupcakes over the years.  We offered these delicious treats for a donation to the SPCA. We sold lots of individual ones throughout the day to our regular clients as well as had people dropping in and picking up a dozen to share with co-workers and family. We are very proud of all money we have raised to help support this great cause, this year alone raising over $450!
