Dr. Stephen Lewis, Veterinarian & Owner From an early age, Stephen Lewis knew he wanted to be a veterinarian. Even as early as 11 years old, he remembers telling people he would one day become a vet. His dream came true 20 years ago when he graduated from Western College of Veterinary Medicine in Saskatchewan and began practicing. He also holds a Bachelor of Science degree from University of British Columbia. For the past 13 years Stephen has been working at Central Animal Hospital, most recently taking over its ownership. Stephen’s favourite part of the job is the variety that each day presents: there is always something new and interesting to see, and new people and pets to meet. He also loves getting the opportunity to catch up with clients who have been coming to the hospital for years and years. Here’s more about Stephen… Where did you grow up? As a kid my family moved around a lot. We lived in Montreal, London (Ontario), Ottawa, and finally North Vancouver. What is your favourite way to spend a weekend or a Sunday afternoon? I enjoy camping, hiking, kayaking and skiing in the winter. We are very lucky to live in Kamloops – here we can do it all! What indulgence could you not live without? After a hard day I love to relax with a nice glass of wine. If you could have a superpower, what would it be? I think I could save a lot of time if I had X-ray vision. “Did that dog swallow a toy?” “Yes, there it is!” If you could have any other job in the world, what would it be? If I couldn’t be a veterinarian anymore, it would be great to be a vacation reviewer. Stay at resorts and exotic locations and write reviews. Nothing like a paid vacation!
